Adopted children face mental health emergency, warns charity

Adopted children are facing a mental health crisis caused by failings in a system that is not set up to meet their needs, research reveals. Adoption UK’s Adoption Barometer report for 2021 reveals that 64 per cent of adopted people aged 16 and older have sought help with their mental health. Some 46 per cent of adopted people aged 16 to 25 were involved with mental health services last year compared with 17 per cent of the general population in the same age group. However, 71 per cent of adopted people seeking help said they were unable to access the support they needed, according to the charity. Read more.
