Barnardo’s has published a report looking at how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting children and young people leaving care in England. The report includes interviews with 16- to 25-year-olds who have lived experienced of being in care. Findings show: financial struggles are increasing many care-experienced young people’s feelings of loneliness and isolation and impacting mental health; and rising prices are making it difficult for care-experienced young people to afford essentials. The report calls for the Department for Health and Social Care to improve access to mental health support.
