Chief inspector urges radical change at Feltham as ban on new child prisoners lifted

The detention of new child prisoners is to resume at Feltham Young Offender Institution despite an intervention by the chief inspector of prisons earlier this year over the “collapse” of the regime.

Chief inspector of prisons Peter Clarke said he hoped the decision to resume placements was “well founded”. 

temporary ban was put on placements at Feltham A after an intelligence-led July inspection by Peter Clarke found an escalation in violence and self-harm.
