Child sexual abuse in religious institutions

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) has published a report on child sexual abuse in religious institutions. The report, based on accounts shared by survivors who were sexually abused in a religious context, found that: 48% of survivors who participated knew of someone else being abused in the same institution; 68% of participants shared that they did not disclose the abuse at the time; and 37% shared that the reason they did not report abuse at the time was feelings of shame or embarrassment.
