The Department for Education (DfE) has published statistics on children referred to and assessed by children’s social services in England for the year ending 31 March 2019. Statistics show: there were 399,500 children in need at 31st March 2019, a decrease of 1% from 2018; 52,300 children were subject to a child protection plan a decrease of 3% compared to 2018.
