Ofsted has published a report analysing children’s social care sufficiency in England. The report presents a new index to measure the sufficiency of children’s social care provision, looking at how availability, workforce, placement suitability, and safety impact sufficiency. It also analyses regional variation in children’s social care provision and access to placements, and the structural and system pressures shaping where and how children are placed. Findings show that sufficiency in children’s social care is shaped by a complex set of factors that influence whether children can be given placements that are safe, appropriate and close to home.
