The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act has become law, delivering landmark reforms aimed at cutting costs for families, strengthening safeguarding and raising school standards across England and Wales. The Department for Education claims the measures, which received royal assent this week, could put up to £1,000 a year back into parents’ pockets while reshaping support for children.
From September, more than 2,000 free breakfast clubs will be introduced in primary schools, alongside an expansion of free school meals for children in families on Universal Credit, extending eligibility to around half a million more pupils. Read more.
