d/Deaf people’s experiences of child sexual abuse

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) has launched a new service in partnership with the charity SignHealth. The service enables d/Deaf people who were sexually abused as children in England and Wales to share their experiences. Participants in IICSA’s Truth Project who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing will be able to access information through a dedicated webpage that includes sign language videos, and SignHealth will also provide information and support via WhatsApp, text message, video call or email. Participants can also choose to attend a private session with d/Deaf facilitators at any of the Inquiry’s offices.
