Early years

The Sutton Trust in partnership with the Sylvia Adams Charitable Trust have published a report looking at the inequality in access to early education and childcare for three- and four-year-olds in England. Currently government funding is available for 15 hours of weekly childcare or nursery provision for 3- and 4-year-olds from low-income families compared with 30 hours a week for children whose parents are in work. The report examines options to reform the 30 hour entitlement to bring lower income children into eligibility.
