Fostering better outcomes report

The Department for Education (DfE) has published the government response to the Foster care in England report and the Education Select Committee’s inquiry into fostering. Priority areas identified include: improving the experience of children in foster care with guidance for foster families on physical affection and guidance for social workers to help children in foster care have contact with loved ones; greater stability for children in care to include a new training package for social workers to help more children have long-term foster placements; and the setting up of the National stability forum for children’s social care to promote better life chances for children in care. A Young Person’s version of the government response has also been published.
