Fostering stocktake recommends national register

A national register of foster carers should be established so that children can be matched to the right families leading to fewer placement breakdowns, a major review of the system has recommended.

The stocktake, which launched in April 2017and was carried out by longstanding government adviser Sir Martin Narey and children’s social worker Mark Owers, makes a total of 36 recommendations.
