The Women and Equalities Committee have published a report on the inequalities faced by Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities. Findings include: entrenched stereotypes in schools leads to children being taken out of education, fear of children being removed from parents’ care prevents families accessing social services, and a lack of data on Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities leads to a failure to tackle these inequalities. The Committee recommends that the Government creates a specific workstream within the Race Disparity Unit for eliminating Gypsy and Traveller inequalities.
