Online communities

The Children’s Commissioner for England has published a new blog focused on child safety in digital communities. It highlights some of the risks associated with online platforms and provides an update on actions the Children’s Commissioner is taking to strengthen online safety regulations. It also summarises findings from recent surveys gathering responses from children around online communities, which include: boys were more likely to access harmful content including material around diet restriction and self-harm; and children eligible for free school meals were more likely to be exposed to harmful content. A second blog has also been published, which looks at child safety in both online and offline communities.
