There is compelling evidence that rates of children’s social care interventions are affected by both deprivation and spending on children’s services, argued academics giving evidence to the All Party Parliamentary Group for Children’s inquiry into social care.
Professor Paul Bywaters, Professor Kate Morris, Professor Brid Featherstone and Professor Nina Biehal also highlighted variation between local authorities at the latest evidence session.
