The Children’s Commissioner for England has published the second Stability Index, an annual report that tracks the experiences of children in care. The Index gathers data from local authorities in England. Key findings include: almost 2,400 children changed placement, school and social worker in 2016/17, while over 350 children experienced multiple placement moves, a mid-year school move and multiple social worker changes in the same year. The report highlights the importance of stability for children in care and calls for extra support to prevent placements from breaking down – especially for those aged 12 to 15.
