Steps to Safety: evaluation report

The NSPCC has published a report evaluating the Steps to Safety early intervention programme for parents of children under 5-years-old which aims to prevent domestic abuse from happening by helping parents identify and manage their emotions, and interact positively with each other and their children. Findings include: having safe, focused assessments and using a modular structure that can be tailored to each family helps parents engage with the service; changes to referral pathways could help the service to engage more families; working with couples together in the home enables them to reflect together, practice new skills and communicate more effectively.
