Teaching union joins forces with charity in call for school counselling boost

A strategic partnership between teaching union NASUWT and charity Citizens UK is set to campaign for a complete roll-out of school counselling across the UK. The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is backing calls for the government to secure the statutory provision of school-based counselling in English primary schools, secondary schools and further education colleges. The call comes after research by NHS Digital, published in 2020, showed that one in six children aged 5 to 19 were identified as having a probable mental disorder. Read more.
