Centrepoint has released data regarding the scale of homelessness amongst young people in the UK, summarising some of the findings from its new searchable Youth homelessness databank. An estimated 86,000 young people approached their local authority in 2016/17 as homeless or at the risk of homelessness in the UK, with 58% of individuals recorded as not receiving any successful positive action. Data was collected from across England through Freedom of Information requests issued to all 326 local authorities, as well as requested directly from the respective governments for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
