Drama access could help children speak up around consent, actors say

Access to drama and the arts could boost children’s confidence in speaking up about issues such as consent and abuse, TV and film stars have said. Actor Amy-Leigh Hickman, who has starred in Eastenders and CBBC drama Tracey Beaker Returns, told CYP Now, that confidence gained from drama lessons could “help children speak up about things in a way you might not in a PHSE lesson”. “You’re less concerned about being judged. “When I went to acting classes, I remember thinking it felt different from lessons at school because it gave me that confidence and allowed me to be myself,” she said.
