However, while UK politicians are refusing to expand free school meals, countries all over the world and leaders from Lula in Brazil to Macron in France are backing a campaign to institute universal free school meals in low-income countries that need it most. The plan, coordinated through the UN Food Summit in Rome, acknowledges it can’t fix the world food system in one go – but it would be a good start.
