The Howard League for Penal Reform has published a briefing paper looking at the policing of children’s homes in England and Wales. The report finds that: police forces receive a high number of callouts from some children’s homes often dealing with minor issues that should not be brought to their attention; and that many police forces are taking measures to solve this problem by working closely with children’s homes and local authorities to reduce unnecessary call-outs, and prevent vulnerable children being drawn into the criminal justice system.
