The House of Commons Library has published a research briefing on home education in England. The report outlines the current position on home-schooling and provides an overview of home education statistics, issues, reports and proposals for reform. Issues highlighted include: concerns about the lack of reliable information regarding numbers of children being home educated; concerns around schools removing pupils from their roll without a formal permanent exclusion or encouraging parents to remove their child; and potential safeguarding risks posed by unregistered schools.
