Infant trauma

The Parent-Infant Foundation has published a report which looks at early trauma in infants, explores professional and public knowledge around the area as well as available support. The report highlights the importance of understanding early trauma – which can include physical and emotional abuse, neglect, and exposure to domestic abuse. Findings include: 97% of professionals and 75% of the public recognise that early relationships are very important; and 84% of the public agree or agree strongly that health services should offer support to families with issues in early parent-infant relationships. Recommendations include increased access to support from a specialised parent-infant relationship team for families and caregivers who need it.
