The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and Department for Education (DfE) have published a national strategy for autistic children, young people and adults in England for the period 2021 to 2026. The strategy follows a consultation on the 2014 National autism strategy and extends its scope to children and young people for the first time. The strategy includes sections on: improving autistic children and young people’s access to education, and supporting positive transitions into adulthood; improving support within the criminal and youth justice systems; and improving understanding and acceptance of autism within society.
