Protecting children from sexual abuse in the family environment

On Feb 20, 2020, the UK Government published a report highlighting the gaps in the multi-agency response to child sexual abuse within the family environment—defined as “sexual abuse perpetrated or facilitated in or out of the home, against a child under the age of 18, by a family member, or someone otherwise linked to the family context or environment, whether or not they are a family member”. This definition was taken from a 2015 inquiry by the Children’s Commissioner on protecting children from harm.
