Young carers

Carers Trust has written a report on their annual survey of young carers. 1,109 young carers (aged under 18) and young adult carers (aged 18-25) took part in the survey from across the UK. Findings include: 57% said that they always or usually worry about the cost of living; 51% reported caring for between 20 and 49 hours a week; and 44% struggled with the impact on their mental health. Recommendations include: that the UK Government publish a national strategy and action plan for unpaid carers in 2023; and that there needs to be improved access to financial support for young carers and young adult carers.
