Kinship care

Kinship has published a new report exploring the views of kinship carers across England and Wales. The report highlights issues facing kinship families such as provision of financial, practical and emotional support. Findings from a survey of 1,657 kinship carers show: 12% were concerned they may have to stop caring for their kinship child; 19,000 children are at risk of entering local authority care as a result; and 18% were unable to take on the care of a brother or sister to a kinship child already in their care. The report makes calls for kinship carers to receive the financial support they need, when they need it.
