A generation of children will enter adulthood with mental health problems unless government takes urgent action to address the “shockingly poor” state of children’s mental health services, children’s commissioner for England Anne Longfield has warned. A report published by Longfield to coincide with World Mental Health day today found that more than half of local areas fail to meet standards on crisis care, and highlighted a lack of information on how many children are referred and accepted for mental health treatment, or the outcomes achieved.
