The Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) has published a report estimating the costs and benefits of addressing unmet maternal mental health needs in the UK. The research, conducted by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), finds that current practice leaves many women without access to evidence-based treatment, and proposes a detailed and costed ‘integrated model of care’ to include dedicated maternal mental health training for health visitors and midwives as well as greater collaboration with other health care services.
